The responsibility for managing health and safety ultimately rests with the person in control of the business or undertaking (PCBU), directors and management. However, students and families also have important responsibilities for health and safety in the learning space.
We are committed to complying with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011, codes of practice and other safety guidance material.
Inquire Education will:
· Ensure the business complies with all legislation relating to health and safety,
· Eliminate or minimise all workplace hazards and risks as far as is reasonably practicable,
· Provide information, instruction and training to enable all students to work safely,
· Supervise students to ensure work activities are performed safely,
· Consult with and involve students and families in matters relating to health, safety and wellbeing,
· Provide appropriate safety equipment and personal protective equipment,
· Highlight when risks are present and require students to act responsibly.
Students and families will:
· Take reasonable care for their own health and safety,
· Follow safe procedures, teacher instructions and rules,
· Participate in safety training for using materials and equipment,
· Report all suspected health and safety hazards,
· Report all injuries and incidents,
· Use safety equipment and personal protective equipment as instructed.
· Identify appropriate spaces for appropriate behaviours and utilise these spaces when required.
Our goal is to provide a safe and healthy work environment that is free from workplace injury and illness. This will only be achieved through the participation, co-operation and commitment of everyone in the learning space.
Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.
STEAM is an acronym that stands for "Science, Technology, Engineering/Environment, Art and Mathematics". These subject areas blend together naturally and effortlessly. Rarely in life, do we encounter a problem to solve that is limited to only one subject area, so why do we continue to segregate subjects for our students? At Inquire Education we are education futurists, and with the changing world that we live in, we believe that our planet could greatly benefit from having a generation of conscious, connected and creative beings making decisions based on solid understandings of STEM concepts that support the natural Earth and the continuation of our species. Our classes encourage the development of consciousness and resilience, connection and higher-order thinking skills, as well as creativity and confidence in problem solving and innovation, as students cycle through the hands-on scientific process.
Have you ever had a child ask a question and you just answer it for them? Maybe even regurgitate some related facts too? When we look into the science of learning, unless the scenario incites an emotional response, neural pathways to 'remembering' will not be laid. This is the reason most curricula tend to support students in repetitive learning. Practise, practise, practise and eventually those neural pathways are founded. This approach definitely has its place, but at Inquire Education we are all about supporting the entire journey of learning, and encouraging a generation of conscious, connected and creative children, who can confidently problem solve and innovate. We do this not by answering a question, but through tailoring experiences that confront students preconceived ideas and allow space for the individual to 'construct' their own sound understandings based on scientific phenomena.
Our Founder, Michelle, is a "Constructivist" trained secondary science teacher, who, rather than simply answer the question, will guide your student through a journey based on the students own prior knowledge, experience and understandings. Providing scenarios and real-world examples and supporting your student in grasping a deep understanding of the scientific concept. This approach allows students to figure out ways to make connections and solve the real-world problems that they encounter, laying the neuropathways of deep and meaningful learning.
