The Inspiring Educator Showcase exists to acknowledge and celebrate educators who have chosen independence and freedom in their work... Those walking paths in education that feel deeply aligned.
These educators are building thoughtful, independent learning pathways beyond the traditional system. They are responding to families seeking something different, and creating spaces where learning is human, connected, and intentional.
Each educator brings their own voice, values, and vision to education. There is no single way of working represented here, only a shared commitment to learning that honours curiosity, autonomy, and care.
This showcase exists to honour their work and to make visible the many ways education is being reimagined.

The "Why" behind this business...
Over the past 12+ years, while supporting learners across all primary year groups, I noticed that the public education system often failed to meet the diverse needs of many students for a variety of reasons.
After stepping away from teaching, I discovered that families were choosing to home-school their children in unprecedented numbers. Having previously home-schooled my youngest son for some of his high school years, I understood the challenges that come with balancing the roles of being both parent and teacher.
I knew I wanted to help students who were "falling through the cracks" in the mainstream system, and I was determined to find a way to work towards making a difference!
After a lot of brainstorming and sharing ideas (lots of them!) with friends and family, I'm excited to introduce The Touring Teacher!

Advice to others:
Always be true to your beliefs, morals, attitude - your full self. Anything less is inauthentic and is not sustainable but most importantly, it will cause you to burn out. Being truly yourself is the only way to live a peaceful life. As Dr Suess says, "Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You".

This Brisbane-based, teacher-owned business provides a range of creative STEAM classes for kids. An experienced teacher with a masters degree teamed with a quantum physicist brings a dynamic learning model aligned with student needs.
Our "why"
"After spending nearly a decade in the primary sector, University physics labs and tutoring across primary and secondary, it was obvious to us that kids are getting seriously left behind when it comes to creative STEAM learning. We had our son in 2023, and it was obvious to both of us that we wanted to create a life that was rooted in play, exploration, and deep learning, so in 2025, STEAMPlay was born!"

Advice to those getting started:
